We have two people, and between them is an age or development gap, which is causing emotional drainage that will prompt the more mature person to leave this relationship.  The younger person sticks their nose where it does not belong, and that makes the older person want to walk away.  When separating, there may be sadness involved, and defensive words may be taken to heart.  But in the end, it is best for strong boundaries to be created.
