two eight cards

eight of wands + eight of swords
In Nov 2018, we had these two Eight cards, and they're back!  First, a refresher on Eight in the tarot:  The numerical significance is a mixed bag.  On one hand, someone's stuck because they haven't yet found a way forward.  But there's no movement because the journey that's about to unfold is still in gestation; it is still growing in this person, changing their thinking and feelings, changing their perspective of the world.  Eights are an emotional pregnancy and the last phase of inward introspection, before someone looks up and at the folks around them.
Together, the Eight of Wands and the Eight of Swords conjure up a confused and unfocused emotional state.  Someone has become excited over a positive turn of events, yet they still feel trapped by something negative in the past and/or present.  In their anticipation of these future events, this person will act hastily to move beyond an unfulfilling job or a significant amount of debt.  They'll get too carried away.  There is an escape out of their negative situation, but they must slow down and progress step-by-step.
As a novice storyteller and reader of mythologies, I enjoy today's cards, which come from the Fairytale Tarot by Yoshi Yoshitani.  Vist Yoshi's beautiful site here.
