past is prologue

three of wands + eight of cups

"What's past is prologue." -William Shakespeare

A querent waits and is not sure when something is going to happen (Three of Wands).  This person wants to escape a dissatisfying situation.  But before new beginnings are undertakable, this querent must penetrate and understand their past.  If this person is waiting for increased material gain, then that financial situation won't provide satisfaction for another month - till springtime has squarely arrived and all the flowering trees are blooming (the Wands card).
Yesterday we had the same Eight of Cups card in the second position.  Connecting these two readings, we have the same querent who spent some time LOOKING WITHIN.  Today's cards are persistently pushing this person to penetrate their past, because their "new" professional cycle might not actually be "new."  (Eights are about cycles.)  This specific card combination implores our querent to examine how their new line of work compares to a professional chapter when he or she financially relied on freelance gigs.  There is something valuable about the querent's professional evolution while they were freelancing, and the querent should not be so quick to leave behind and forget that lesson.  Whether the querent appreciates it or not, their new business endeavors are an outgrowth of their old line of work.  What's happening is that our querent is evolving into a more balanced out professional, and it's very possible the previous chapter of freelancing lasted a four year period - running its natural course.  (Which isn't unusual, right?  Four years of high school.  Then traditionally four years of college.  Etcs.)
