Martin Luther King

the devil + judgment
Just a quick preface that today's tarot card combination is a whopper.  You are about to get some Devil, alittle Angel, the one and only Nina Simone, Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King Jr., anger, then absolution, and much more...
In response to anger and resentment (the Devil), today's querent is letting go of inhibitions, and their emotional release will be a rebirth.  This person has been afraid of death, but without - and beyond - this fear and anger, there will be two great revelations:  [1] clarity about things s/he has been going through (Devil with Judgment) and [2] how someone else feels about our querent.  What is interesting about today's card combination - the Devil resurrecting as an Angel - is its message that something our querent had previously perceived as a dangerous taboo will soon be revealed as this person's highest calling - a taboo that is actually a mind game and ploy by someone else to deceive our querent.  All of this - the anger, the emotional release, the clarity - is a process of karmic causality.
I am reminded of lyrics from Nina Simone's protest song Why? (The King of Love Is Dead).  Because there was something our querent believed could overpower them so much that it'd kill them, but very soon this thing will become something our querent would wholeheartedly commit to and die for.  To answer Nina Simone's question of why the King of Love is dead - because of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s doctrine of rigorous absolution.  Instead of feeling restricted by racism, which would've been the Devil response, MKL Jr. fought and sacrificed his life so there could be a different social/racial result for Black Americans, which was the Judgment response.  In a super simple sense, racism has been a social and economic ploy, one which MLK Jr. saw right through - and he attacked it, he fought it, and that's why the King of Love is dead, that's why we commemorate him on January 18th.
Similarly, our querent will shed anger and selfishness, and this person will completely digest and radically process dark and anger inhibitions, until he or she determines the best course of action - to creatively destroy some modern-day evil.  Our querent was stagnate in anger, but the source of this anger will become their calling and life purpose.
Okay, here are the lyrics from Why? (The King of Love Is Dead) - starting at 7:10.
My people are rising; they're living in lies.
Even if they have to die
Even if they have to die at the moment they know what life is
Even at that one moment that ya know what life is
If you have to die, it's all right
Cause you know what life is
You know what freedom is for one moment of your life
